Happy Friday everyone and welcome back to this week’s Featured Friday. We are officially two weeks away from Christmas and I know everyone is getting into the thick of the holiday spirit and shopping. This weeks woman-owned local business gave us great holiday inspiration of treats to share with our family’s during this time, and is such an awesome gift giving idea to loved ones for the season. We cant believe this year is wrapping up so soon and we will soon be in 2021! Now its time to talk about some mouth watering baked treats!
The Pink Mixer is an insanely amazing and yummy baked goods company that is ran by Jackie Naranjo. The Pink Mixer which started in May of 2020 during the pandemic, is not just cakes, cookies and pastries, but a true love story. A first-generational Mexican girl’s passion for baking, combined with a guys love, inspired him to buy her the perfect Christmas present in 2012 which created The Pink Mixer. When speaking with Jackie she spoke about how much the support of her husband Art and her two best friends (Winnie and Brandi) really inspired and pushed her to start her own business. It is so amazing to be able to interact and work with such fun and unique companies that are started with true passion, love, support, and a heart filled back story, especially during such a difficult time. After Instagram stalking this company’s page for weeks, we were finally fortunate enough to be able to try these fantastic pastries ourselves, and I can truly say my life has been changed.
Let me start by saying every single baked good we tried was baked to absolute perfection! Each item is baked from 100% scratch (never baked out of a box) and the quality truly shines, making every bite filled with an explosion of the softest and sweetest taste. When speaking with Jackie we actually were able to put together a Holiday special so that all of our readers can try an assortment of her items, but we will talk more about that later. The Pink Mixer put together four different products for us to try and each one was simply splendid. First we started of with two different kinds of cookies, both cookies looking somewhat similar but filled with its own unique taste. The two cookies are called Chocolate chip kisses and Chocolate chip peppermint kisses, a soft chocolate chip base cookie but having a special chocolate placed in the middle. The chocolate chip kiss is the perfect spin on a regular chocolate cookie while the holiday version kicks the entire treat up a notch by having an infused peppermint taste, that brings your taste buds to a full holiday stop. We stuck the cookies in the microwave for a few seconds to melt the chocolate, paired with a glass of cold milk, and you have the perfect treat to leave out for Santa (or yourself). The next treat we tried, which was my favorite, was the super aesthetic and deliciously soft Gingerbread loaf, which gives the perfect serving for the whole family to try. When receiving the pastry there is a perfectly shaped Gingerbread figure made out of powdered sugar, leaving you to wonder how that is even humanely possible, but hey it must be a Christmas miracle. This wonderful treat is filled with the most authentic flavor, leaving you with wanting to have a second (or third) piece, and we found this item paired perfectly with a glass of spiced eggnog. Lastly, which was Birdi’s favorite, was a super holiday treat called Peppermint brownies. The peppermint brownies has a rich chocolate base, topped with peppermint bark bites, which creates an enriching combo flavor in your mouth, that pairs really well with Wine (specifically we tried Stella Rosa). Each item continuously blew us away with every bite, while every item has its own specific flavor and unique make up, they all have the same consistent quality and attention to detail.
