Featured Friday: Dear Santa
Hello everyone! How is everyone enjoying their holidays so far, 2021 is very shortly behind and we cant wait for the new year. We’re very excited about todays Featured Friday because it centers around a community outreach program ran by a business that also had a difficult year. One of my favorite parts about the holidays is connecting and helping as many people as possible, and with this opportunity you can accomplish it at home, that actually just started for this season today!
The USPS system has now opened their Operation Santa program for the 2020 Holiday season. Children all over the world have been writing letters to the postal system since their was a postal system. In 1912 General Frank Hitchcock allowed employees and citizens to respond to letters, a program that eventually became known as Operation Santa. The USPS has expanded the program so that when kids fill out a letter and send it to the right postal code, families can help ensure Santa gets these children presents. Anyone can help other children out this year by spreading joy for the holidays.

If interested, you can begin by visiting their website at uspsoperationsanta.com. On their webpage they offer information on how this operation started, how to adopt a letter, how to write in a letter, and other safety general information. To adopt a letter, you simply file through the new letters written by children that are scanned in everyday, find a letter that speaks to you and you would like to help, obtain your presents, and follow the drop off instructions through their website. Just like that you have helped a child smile on Christmas and help spread positivity to those that may need help this year.
This Featured Friday is really special to us because this celebrates the holidays by helping other families and trying to make a positive impact during a stressful time for some. Birdi and I will be adopting letters this year and we really encourage anyone else that has the opportunity, to also try and donate to such a heartwarming cause. Since it is the beginning of December a lot of different volunteer opportunities will start arising if this cause does not speak to you, that can include Brighter Christmas, Food drives, or an animal shelter. If everyone can help do something small this year to help families in need then we can all have a better Holiday. We hope everyone has an amazing and safe weekend and we will see you next week.
